Healthy and shining India is their dream India

This Sunday over 60 students of Choithram International School from class 5 onwards were part of a unique project that envisaged a healthy and progressive India. They were part of an essay writing and painting competition undertaken by the students of Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIMI) under their social awareness drive called Jagriti. The occasion was the launch of the Indore marathon 2011, an ambitious project undertaken by the young turks from IIM. In its fourth continuous year running, it has quickly become an extremely effective and prestigious event for the residents of Indore.The theme of this year’s marathon is “Run for a healthy India”.

Students from the school took part in a painting and essay writing competition under the topic “healthy India, progressive India”. Classes eight to ten participated in essay competition while their junior counterparts took part in the painting competition. The idea behind the event  is to generate a lot of creativity and energy in these kids, so that they can build an India which is agile and strong.

The entries in the painting competition were extremely creative and envisaged great ideas that these little think tanks had conceived. The essay entries had visions symbolic of India’s future needs for health reform and social changes. It was amazing to see the level of involvement and passion with which these students set about their tasks. The best entries would be put on the Indore Marathon website, and the top 3 entries would be felicitated on the day of Marathon i.e. the 2nd of October. After the competitions, the students had a chance to interact with a health expert from Lions International. The students were very enthusiastic about queries related to fitness, diet and a healthy lifestyle. All the participants were given certificates from Lions Club in association with IIM Indore.
