In the run up to Indore Marathon 2010, IIM Indore organized Jagriti - the Essay Writing Competition
on 26th Sept. 2010 at Choithram International School, Indore. The topics of the essay contest
were "India and Education" (in English) and "Bharat aur Shiksha" (in Hindi) in line with the theme "Run
for an Educated India" of Indore Marathon 2010.
Jagriti was a grand success with over 150 students from various schools including Choithram
International, MBS Academy and Laurels International, participating in the competition. The essay
writing competition was open for children from class 5th to 10th and the entries could be submitted in
either English or Hindi.
The winners of the competition will be felicitated at IIM Indore on 2nd Oct. 2010 along with the
winners of Indore Marathon 2010. The top 3 entries of each group (5th-7th standard and 8th - 10th
standard) will be given prizes. Also, the top 10 essays will be published in the Indore Marathon
website. All the participants will be presented with participation certificates.
Immediately after the essay competition, a session on "What After 10th?" was conducted by IIM
Indore. The session aimed at making students aware of the career options available after 10th to help
them make an informed choice. Though, the session was initially planned for students of 9th & 10th
standard, many enthusiastic students from 8th standard also attended it. The interaction was highly
fulfilling for both, the speakers as well as the students, with many important questions being raised by
the latter.
IIM Indore to organise Jagriti on 26th Sept. 2010
IIM Indore is organising Jagriti – the Essay Writing Competition on 26th Sept. 2010 at Choithram International School, Indore as a part of “Run for an Education India” initiative of Indore Marathon 2010.
The competition aims to make children think on crucial questions like – Why is education important in our lives? What is the state of education in India today? Can we bring about a change in the system and how? Indore Marathon aims to create awareness about the importance of education in our lives.
The essay writing competition will be open for children from class 5th to 10th and the entries can be submitted in either English or Hindi. The topic for the competition will be Bharat aur Shiksha (in Hindi) OR India and Education (in English).
The winners of the competition will be felicitated at IIM Indore on 2nd Oct. 2010 after Indore Marathon. The top 3 entries of each group (5th-7th standard and 8th – 10th standard) will be given prizes. Also, the top 10 essays will be published on the Indore Marathon website. All the participants will be awarded participation certificates.
Immediately after the essay competition, a 45 minute session will be organised on the topic – “What After 10th?” - for students of 9th & 10th standards.
We invite all schools and students to participate in Jagriti.
